A Great Spring Race!
“John Bryan is the most scenic state park in western Ohio. The 752-acre park contains a remarkable limestone gorge cut by the Little Miami River which is designated as a state and national scenic river. A portion of the gorge itself is designated as a national natural landmark.”
This will be the ninth running of the Tie Dye, with the addition of a 25k option this year. The course will be mostly in tact or the same as in previous years, however this year it will incorporate new portions of trails by using the new switchbacks on the rear side of the camping area.
This will be an 8 mile loop course running 4 loops for the 50k and 2 loops for the 25k. The course will move along the Little Miami River and have at least one climb coming out of Clifton Gorge. The course has a variety of terrain including some more technical portions containing rocks, roots and water. If you haven’t visited John Bryan state Park you should know that it is a pristine park that at one time inhabited by the Shawnee Indians and Tecumseh undoubtedly would have ambled along the same trails.
There will be two stocked aid stations one at the start/finish and one approximately 3.8 miles into the race. Stocked stations include water, Gatorade, gels, pretzels, chips, cookies, candy, peanut butter and jelly and fruit.
This year’s Tie Dye 50k will include a 25k option. Runners will still be getting an old school Tie Dye cotton t-shirt, but this year will also receive a buff with custom artwork by Wesley Berg, wesleyberg.com.
There will be a cut-off of 9 hours for both races and no one will be allowed to start their last loop past 2:30 p.m. Packet pick-up on race day only starting at 6:30 a.m.
As soon as the course is officially marked, it will be posted here.
